May 2013 Favorites

The month of May has gone by so quickly!  Here's a short list of things I was into this month:

The Smoky Mountains: If you read my previous post about Memorial Day weekend, you already know I spent a few days in the mountains this month.  Wonderful place, wonderful trip.  Enough said.

Boscia Green Tea Blotting Linens: These are oil-absorbing sheets infused with green tea, so they're supposed to deliver anti-oxidants to your skin while cutting down on shine. I've used these for about a year now, but I always reach for them more when the weather warms up causing my oily skin to go into overdrive.

Baseball: Adam and I went to 4 games over the span of 2 weeks.  It had been so long since I'd even been to a baseball game, so I definitely enjoyed attending.  Also, Mississippi State is hosting a NCAA Regional this weekend.  Go Diamond Dawgs!

Sally Hansen Diamond Strength Nail Hardener: Works well as a base coat or by itself--I love how strong it makes my nails feel.

SourceFed and SourceFedNERD: Two YouTube channels I've discovered lately that discuss news and pop culture. The hosts are pretty funny.

Amanda Bynes' meltdown: What the HELL?! Of all the child stars, I would have thought she'd be the last to go crazy. Don't get me wrong, I have loved her since I was like 10, and I truly hope she gets the help she needs. BUT, everybody loves a good celebrity freakout. Makes us feel a lot better about ourselves.

"Brave" by Sara Bareilles: This song just makes me HAPPY.

 Have a great weekend! :)

There's just something about the mountains...

My boyfriend and I went on a trip to the Smoky Mountains this past weekend for Memorial Day holiday, and it was just lovely!  I absolutely adore that environment, and I always immediately miss it.  We hiked about 9 miles one day and (over)ate the best food ever.  I would have posted more pictures on Instagram, but my phone's camera was giving me fits the first couple of days.  Regardless, it was a special time with a special person.  We've been twice before, so we made sure to do our traditional activities like feeding the bears at a certain store, riding the Sky Lift, and playing our favorite mini-golf course. I even won us a free game!

I hope everyone else had as great of a weekend as we did!

Adventure Time!

Memorial Day weekend is here, and I'm leaving on my trip tonight!  I'm sure I'll be taking plenty of pictures, so feel free to check out my Instagram page over the next few days!

Have a good weekend!

Happenings

Let's see, let's see...what's been going on in my life lately?  *This post will be very random.

I went to several baseball games last week, which were super fun.  Ordered tickets today for a minor league game this weekend, too.  Speaking of this weekend, I'm going on a mini-vacation to the mountains.  Gonna go hiking and such.  I know I just went on a vacation, but my boss is on vacation in Europe right now, so the timing of that and Memorial Day weekend coming up just kind of worked out.

My flower sprouts I transferred to a couple of bigger pots about a month ago seem to be dying before even budding. :( I think they've been getting too much sun, or I probably should have put them in bigger pots. My green thumb has gotten rusty!

I did a lot of straightening up around the apartment this weekend--namely getting my closet and clothes drawers in order.  I finally packed my winter clothes away, which freed up a lot of room.  It has definitely warmed up enough now--there were quite a few days in April that were downright cold!

A good friend of mine from high school is going to be representing Mississippi in the Miss USA pageant coming up on June 16th!  Her name is Paromita Mitra, and she's the total package.  She is BEAUTIFUL and BRILLIANT.  She's majoring in Aerospace Engineering at Mississippi State University.  A beauty queen who is also a rocket scientist?  Y'all better vote for her here to get into the top 16 for the pageant!  Not that I don't think she'll get in through her own merits, but the vote will just be extra insurance. :)

I'm currently watching coverage of the tornado destruction in Oklahoma today.  The pictures and footage are just heartbreaking.  So scary and so sad.  Adam went storm chasing in that general area with some friends of his, but he tells me that he is okay.  My thoughts and prayers are with everyone who has been affected!  This makes me very thankful that no one died in the tornado that hit my hometown of Hattiesburg back in February.

I hope everyone has a great week!

Oops

Missed my Thursday post!  I went to the MSU baseball game last night.  We're playing South Carolina this series, and we WON last night's game!  It wasn't looking very good for us, but we rallied in the bottom of the 8th.  It was awesome!  I love sports, and I don't care who knows.  (You get cool points if you know that reference.)  I'm going to tonight's game, too.  A client at work gave me tickets since he wasn't going to be in town.  Free tickets to an SEC baseball game?  Yeah, I'll take those.

Have a great weekend!  TGIF!!! :)

Birchbox: May 2013

Birchbox totally sneaked up on me this month, but I'm not complaining because I kind of LOVE everything I got.  Let's dive in!

amika Obliphica Nourishing Mask: "Packed with omega acids and vitamin C, this lush conditioning mask boosts shine and even helps repair split ends." Full-size $12-$40, sample size $1.60

I. Love. This. Stuff. It's seriously great.  I've purchased it through Birchbox before, but purchasing an item doesn't mean you won't receive it as a sample in the future.  I am soo not complaining.  This will last me 2-3 uses; I had previously purchased the smaller $12 tube, which lasted me about 2 months.  I'm trying to save up points so I can get the $40 tub for free!  Seriously wonderful product.  The smell is heavenly, and it leaves my hair feeling so hydrated and soft.

COOLA Classic Face SPF 30 Cucumber Moisturizer for Face: "This mineral sunblock is infused with organic anti-aging ingredients like evening primrose extract and borage seed oil." Full-size $32, sample size $4.33

I've received a COOLA face sunscreen before, but that one was just purely a sunscreen.  This one is a moisturizer with SPF.  Love my SPF, so I'm very excited about this.  Also, I love that it came in a little tube--the last COOLA product I got came in an non-resealable cardboard pouch of sorts, but I still loved it enough to use points on it. Hooray COOLA!

Marvis Classic Mint Toothpaste: "A stylish Italian import with an invigorating peppermint flavor." Full-size $10.50, sample size $1.40

How adorable.  I'm going on a trip in a couple of weeks for Memorial Day weekend, and this toothpaste will definitely get used!

Sumita Color Contrast Eyeliner: "Inspired by traditional Indian formulas, this velvety liner glides on easily and lasts for hours." Set of 4 mini pencils $21, sample size (1 pencil) $4.25

Tiny baby eyeliner!  I received the shade "Suman", which appears to be just black.  A very densely pigmented black.  I usually wear brown or dark brown eyeliner since dark black can look harsh against my light skin and light eyes, but this will be fun to try!  Closeup of the product is below.

LIFESTYLE EXTRA
Runa Guayusa Tea: "With more antioxidants than green tea, this caffeine-rich blend is made from Amazonian Guayusa leaves." Full-size(16 packets) $7, sample size(4 packets) $1.75

Tea.  Yummy.  End of story.  By the way, it's pronounced "gwhy-you-sa".  Fancy.

So!  The total monetary value of my May Birchbox is $14.33.  More than the $10 price tag, but not by much.  Despite this, I love and look forward to using everything I got!  Good job, Birchbox!  If you are interested in learning more about this service or want to sign up for a subscription yourself, click here!

Also, if you're reading this, I hope your Monday went well!  I went through most of the day feeling like it was already Tuesday, so the rest of this week is bound to be just swell. :)

Exhaustion

Hands down, this has been one of the more stressful weeks at work in recent memory.  People are nucking futs.  I think I'd be handling it better if I'd gotten more R&R last week on my vacation.  Instead, I'm stressing out at work, then coming home exhausted, not wanting to do anything whatsoever.  Puts a damper on my workout schedule, too.  Right now, the last thing I want to do is exercise!  But it must be done.  Gotta work off whatever I gained while eating my body weight in fried seafood! :)

Mayday

Hello, hello.

I'm back from my family vacation to the beach.  Unfortunately, I don't feel recharged like I did when I went back in October.  The whole experience was slightly disappointing.  I was in a horrible mood the entire trip, and the weather did not cooperate--meaning I was stuck in the hotel room watching Dr. Oz with my mom and brother while in aforementioned horrible mood.  It wasn't pretty.

However, for roughly 2 1/2 magical hours on Saturday afternoon, the sun decided to grace us with its presence.  It was much needed.

Needless to say, I am glad to be back in Starkville.  It'll take a couple of days to get used to waking up early and going to work all day, but it'll be nice to get back in the swing of things.

Vacation

I'm at the beach!  The weather is less than pleasant.  Keep up with what I'm doing on Instagram!
