The month of May has gone by so quickly! Here's a short list of things I was into this month: The Smoky Mountains: If you read my previous post about Memorial Day weekend, you already know I spent a few days in the mountains this month. Wonderful place, wonderful trip. Enough said.
Boscia Green Tea Blotting Linens: These are oil-absorbing sheets infused with green tea, so they're supposed to deliver anti-oxidants to your skin while cutting down on shine. I've used these for about a year now, but I always reach for them more when the weather warms up causing my oily skin to go into overdrive. Baseball: Adam and I went to 4 games over the span of 2 weeks. It had been so long since I'd even been to a baseball game, so I definitely enjoyed attending. Also, Mississippi State is hosting a NCAA Regional this weekend. Go Diamond Dawgs! Sally Hansen Diamond Strength Nail Hardener: Works well as a base coat or by itself--I love how strong it makes my nails feel.
SourceFed and SourceFedNERD: Two YouTube channels I've discovered lately that discuss news and pop culture. The hosts are pretty funny. Amanda Bynes' meltdown: What the HELL?! Of all the child stars, I would have thought she'd be the last to go crazy. Don't get me wrong, I have loved her since I was like 10, and I truly hope she gets the help she needs. BUT, everybody loves a good celebrity freakout. Makes us feel a lot better about ourselves.
"Brave" by Sara Bareilles: This song just makes me HAPPY.
Am I the only one who felt like April just dragged on and on? Here are my favorites for this long-ass month: Food
Progresso Light creamy potato and bacon soup: SO delicious, and only 4 WeightWatchers points per can.
Lean Cuisine Paninis: I've been eating these like it's going out of style.
Beauty
Self-Tanning: For fair-skinned people like myself, it's not so easy to get a real tan from the sun. Usually, I just end up burning to a crisp, which is not good considering I have a family history of skin cancer. So, I rely on self-tanning products during the warmer months of the year. This year, I've been loving the Jergens Healthy Glow moisturizing lotion and Neutrogena mist.
Sally Hansen Maximum Growth Cuticle and Nail Moisture Treatment Pen: This keeps my cuticles hydrated, and I do really think it helps make my nails grow.
CoverGirl & Olay Eye Corrector: This yellow-toned undereye concealer helps hide darkness, and the Olay moisturizer swirled throughout helps hydrate.
Fitness
New Balance sneakers: I got these for Christmas, and I've been loving them for going on walks as the weather has gotten warmer.
Fashion
Pointy-toed black flats from Old Navy: I got these for my birthday back in March. I had to wear bandages around my Achilles tendon/heel area for the first several times I wore them to break them in, but I'm getting to where I don't need to do that anymore. I always love a good black flat, and these feel sophisticated. Especially now that they don't make me bleed. :)
Jeans: Since I've started losing weight (14 pounds so far!!), my clothes are fitting much more loosely. I've even been able to fit into some jeans that had not seen the light of day in a LONG time. :)
Music
"Mirrors" by Justin Timberlake- I seriously JAM to this in the car when it comes on the radio. Sure to get a lot of plays on my iPod.
"If So" by Atlas Genius- Adam introduced me to this band a couple of months ago, and like clockwork, the local college radio station has started playing them. Listen below! :)
"Song for Zula" by Phosphorescent- I don't know why, but I love it.
I'm always on the hunt for things that make life easier, more fun, better, you-name-it. So, I bring you my favorites, in a variety of categories, for the month of December.
Fitness
"You Can Do Pilates" DVD- It may seem kinda lame to do a beginner's exercise DVD, but even though my back doctor has given me the green light, I do still have to be careful. This DVD has been really great. I feel more fit, and I can tell my muscle tone is improving. I definitely plan to keep using this program into the new year. Better than sitting on the couch!
Food
Green tea- I grew up hating hot tea, and now here I am, loving it. Guess it's true that our tastes really do change!
Hummus- More like yummus (sorry, had to). I recently found my favorite brand, Athenos, on sale at Kroger for buy one, get one FREE. Score!
Home
Slatkin & Co. 3-wick candle in "Cider Lane" from Bath & Body Works- I've been obsessed with candles this entire year, but this one has been my favorite by far. Described as "...a delicious fall blend of mulled cider, warm caramel, and sweet cinnamon," this is truly the perfect autumn candle. (A tip about B&BW candles: they retail for about $20.00 a piece, so always try to catch them when they go on sale for 2 for $20.00.)
Beauty
Wet n' Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio in "Walking on Eggshells"- I'm a fan of neutral eyeshadows, and these are fantastic quality at a very low price.
Neutrogena Naturals Purifying Pore Scrub- Love this stuff. From the bottle: "Gently scrubs away impurities that can build up in pores to improve complexion for fresh, clear skin". I especially love that it is made of 94% naturally-derived ingredients.
Birchbox- I've been a Birchbox subscriber for a year now, and I'm loving it. Birchbox is beauty and lifestyle subscription service which sends out 4-6 samples of higher-end products each month. My mother gifted me a subscription last Christmas, and I've discovered so many great new brands and products through them. This Christmas, I decided to buy myself a subscription so I can stay in-the-know! If you're interested in Birchbox, check it outhere. (If you want to subscribe, make sure you do so via my link! I'll get referral points for the Birchbox shop!)
Music
Xmas song! "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" Judy Garland version- Classic.
"The House I Grew Up In" by The Weeks- Fun.
"Locked Out of Heaven" by Bruno Mars- I would not call myself a Bruno Mars fan, but I saw him and his band perform this on SNL a few weeks back, and it was a PARTY. Can someone give me tickets to a Bruno show?
"You Know Me" by Air Traffic Controller- Sweet.
"93 Million Miles" by Jason Mraz- Makes my heart swell. Video below!
So that's it! What were some of your favorites this month? I hope everyone has a happy new year!
