Yikes.

We had a bit of an incident today at work!  Since beginning my job almost 2 years ago (whoa), there's been a man who will come in every now and then and act somewhat threatening toward me.  He had not been by in quite a while, but today, he came in causing a commotion.  Apparently, he had been causing trouble and threatening the secretary at another attorney's office, and they called the police on him.  The police came to our office, too, but he had already left, so I don't really know if anything will happen.  I feel bad for him because he's schizophrenic and needs help, but I'm also kinda scared.  Anytime someone large and menacing threatens you, you're bound to get rattled.  Believe me, I had my pepper spray in hand as I walked to my car this afternoon.

To follow up from my previous post, the MSU Bulldogs did, unfortunately, lose the College World Series Championship.  But, I am so proud of them, regardless!!  UCLA was just a great team, and there's no shame in losing to a team that's THAT good.  Our boys have been such great representations for the state of Mississippi, and I look forward to the many great Bulldog Baseball teams of the future for which this year's team laid a winning foundation.

Let's go, Bulldogs!!!

This feels like a dream, and I'm so nervous/excited that I feel like I could just burst.  My Mississippi State University Bulldog baseball team is playing in the NCAA College World Series championship series.  MSU is playing for a national title!!!  This is absolutely HUGE.  Mississippi State has never won a national title in any NCAA-recognized sport (disc golf doesn't count haha).  I'm just so proud of our boys and our school and our state.  It's not often I'm proud of the state of Mississippi, but I've been feeling extra spirited lately.  I'm actually about to paint my nails maroon, and I'm just now realizing that that might be a bit much.  But, so what??!!  This is such a momentous occasion, I don't even care.  Mississippi State will face off against UCLA in a best-of-3 series beginning tonight at 7pm (CST).

Let's go Bulldogs!!! Hail State!!!

Thankful

Life is messy.  I'm thankful for every single day, no matter how mundane.  And, I look forward to the future, whatever it may hold.  Just wanted to put that out there.

Summertime Blues

Had a very nice weekend visiting friends in Hattiesburg, but I didn't get much rest.  Actually, I just need more rest, in general.  Today was stressful at work, and the rest of the week will probably be equally rough.  I need to find a better way to relieve stress and decompress in the evenings.  I am excited, however, because my Bulldog baseball team are playing in the College World Series!  Our next game is literally about to start right now.  Go Dawgs!! :)

Birchbox: June 2013

Long time, no blog!  Sorry about that, I suppose.  What better way to get back in the swing of things than checking out what I received in my Birchbox this month?  June's theme is Wanderlust.  (By the way, totally loving Birchbox's brand redesign.)  Interested in learning more about the service?  Click here!

Oscar de la Renta Something Blue: "The brand's latest scent, a lovely blend of mandarin and linden blossoms."  While this does smell a bit mature for me, I do like it. I haven't found myself reaching for it since receiving my box on Monday, but that's mainly because it's in a vial that doesn't spritz. Full size: $85, sample size: $1.50.

Klorane Gentle Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk: "Beloved by celebs, this award-winning oil-buster revives second-day styles." I'm always down to try a new dry shampoo.  The one I got from TIGI in my February Birchbox was sooo wrong for me.  That almost made my hair even more oily.  I have higher hopes for this one! Full size: $18, sample size: $5.96.

Mirenesse Glossy Kiss Lipstick: "This user-friendly pencil is a goof-proof way to score high-impact lips."  This product can double as a cheek stain as well.  I got the shade Cheeky Kiss, and I actually like the color a lot.  Very wearable for me.  The only thing that confuses me is that the product I received is a jumbo pencil that will need to be sharpened, while the product shown on the Birchbox website is a twist-up crayon.  That's my only gripe, and it's only because I'm lazy and hate sharpening makeup pencils. :) I did receive a full size of this product, which is worth: $26.55.

Twistband Birchbox Nautical Hair Tie Collection: "Seaworthy hair ties that will charm even the landlubbers among us."  Another Twistband as the Lifestyle Extra. I don't ever use these as much as I think I will. Though, I did have to smile at the anchors.  Sorority throwback, what up.  I would have been ALL about this in 2007/2008.  Full-size (pack of 6): $14, one band: $2.33.

Birchbox + Color Club Wanderlust Collection: "Exclusive neon pastel shades inspired by four of our favorite cities." I received the shade Reign in Spain, a neon coral, yet it is still soft.  I would have rather gotten the lavender shade in the collection since I already have plenty of coral polishes, but there's no way Birchbox could have known that.  Full-size: $8, sample-size: $4.

The box also included some seriously cute postcards, illustrated with scenes from four cities around the world.  I'm thinking about framing them.  Is that weird?  Whatever.

So! The total value of my Birchbox this month is.......*drumroll*......... $40.34!  Well done, Birchbox.  Not only did I get some cool things, but the value far exceeds the $10 cost for the service.  What did you get in your Birchbox?

Let the Broken Pieces Go

Sometimes, I get in these weird moods where all I do is think.  Just thinking and analyzing anything and everything until I'm drained and my head starts hurting.  It's just a funk, and I'm ready to get out of it.  This seems to be a good song to sum it up:

This is turning out to be a music-filled June, yeah?  I'm liking it.  Let's keep it going.

'Til I Heard Your Voice in a Dream

Don't you hate when a favorite TV show gets cancelled?  I'd been a devoted "Smash" fan ever since the first episode, despite all of the behind-the-scenes drama.  I loved the story, the songs, and being able to witness the process of how a show gets to Broadway.  It all came to an end a couple of weeks ago, but the songs will always stay with me.  I've posted the video below of one that's been stuck in my head lately.  It's actually a song originally done by Andrew McMahon (Something Corporate/Jack's Mannequin), but I love the way it's incorporated into the show--ESPECIALLY the choreography.  It fits so well with the song's message about obstacles getting in the way of relationships.  And Jeremy Jordan's voice?  Please.  Enjoy!  :)
